Anchoring the southern end of the island, Coquina Beach is the longest uninterrupted stretch of sand on Anna Maria Island. Tall palm trees line the walking path, and shaded picnic areas make it easy to spend a full day at the beach without baking in the sun. There’s a large parking lot, lifeguards, and a beachfront cafe serving tropical drinks and a full breakfast and lunch menu. With the southern section offering amenities and high energy, and the northern section providing a quieter stretch, you’ll find your perfect spot in the sand at Coquina Beach.
Manatee Public Beach
Best for families with kids, beach games and lively atmosphere
If you’re traveling with kids, Manatee Public Beach is hard to beat. It has all the amenities a busy family needs for a beach day–picnic tables, grills, restrooms, concessions, outdoor showers, and volleyball courts. The Anna Maria Island Beach Cafe offers up beachside eats, and an on-site gift shop has any beach gear you may need. The shallow water entry and lifeguards make this a comfortable spot for little ones to wade in, and a nearby playground provides some extra fun. Parking can fill up fast on busy days, so plan an early arrival.
Bean Point
Best for sunsets, peaceful walks and shelling
At the northern tip of Anna Maria Island, Bean Point offers expansive views of the Gulf and Tampa Bay. It’s less developed than the central beaches, with a more residential feel and limited amenities. Bean Point is considered one of the best sunset-watching spots on the island, and this quiet spot is great for long walks along the water and hunting for shells. There’s always lots of room to spread out, so if you’re looking for a more secluded atmosphere, Bean Point is a great stop.

Cortez Beach
Best for an uncrowded local feel
Located in Bradenton Beach, Cortez Beach tends to fly under the radar. With a wide, walkable shoreline and mellow atmosphere, this is a local favorite for peaceful beach days. It’s a great spot for strolling through the surf, with three piers to explore along the way. There aren’t any concessions here, so bring your own cooler and umbrella and settle in.
