However, if you come here during summer, get here early so you can set up your umbrella and chairs before the crowds!
Another fun thing to do during your time at Cortez Beach is to go to the pier! Many beaches in Florida only have a boardwalk or sand, but no fishing structures. The cool thing about Cortez Beach is that it offers three-tier structures that are great for swimming, jumping into the water, practicing your diving, and fishing during the less-crowded times.
If you would rather check out another beach during your stay on Anna Maria Island, then head to Manatee Public Beach. This beach is also very accessible for people renting one of our vacation homes from SeaBreeze Vacation, as it is just off the main highway leading into the town. Plus, we love this option for those with older adults or kids, as the blue water is just a few steps from the parking lot!
Speaking of kids, there are tons of kid-friendly activities for you to take part in at Manatee Beach. You can do the classic beach-day activities, like building a sandcastle, swimming, or reading under an umbrella, or you can play volleyball on one of the five sand courts, go for a walk on the beach trail, or go surfing in the waves!
And once you get hungry, you and your guests can head to the nearby Anna Maria Island Cafe. Take care of your skin and sit under the umbrella and the shade to cool off from the strong heat and protect your face from the strong UV rays. If you would rather make your own food, you can use one of the many girls in the picnic areas for a barbeque lunch that saves a few bucks.
Get Something to Eat
If you spend the entire day at the beach, chances are you are going to work up an appetite! This popular spot is always busy among locals and tourists, open six days per week for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. You can order one of their strong espresso-laced beverages, like an iced latte or a foamy cappuccino, and pair it with a breakfast item or lunch sandwich.
We love the healthy avocado toast with endless filter coffee for breakfast, poached eggs and an iced latte for a specialty brunch, or a hot cappuccino with a flaky pastry for a quick breakfast on the go. If you are from the northeastern part of the United States, you can even get a savory bagel that is going to remind you of home!
If you are out with the kids all day long, we have a great spot for a mid-afternoon pick me up that is perfect for children and adults. Head to The Donut Experiment, a classic dessert and snack spot that churns out sweet donuts and strong coffee to appease youngsters and parents desperately in need of some caffeine.
The cool thing about this shop is that the customer is in charge — you can choose your base, icing, and toppings on your donut. If you want a chocolate cake donut with chocolate glaze and Oreos on top, you can do just that! Just be aware of the impending sugar rush (and sugar crash) afterward!
Go for a Cocktail
Last but not least, we recommend going for a cocktail with your best friends while you are on vacation! After all, you can splurge — it is a holiday! We recommend heading to the Kokonut Hut, a Tiki bar-style bar that is right on the sand of the beach. Head out of the water after swimming and surfing all day long and just walk up to the bar without having to put on your shoes. What more could you ask for?
The Kokonut Hut is perfectly situated right off the beach at the Gulf Drive Cafe in Bradenton Beach. During your day trip to Bradenton, head here to get a strong cocktail, munch on some crunchy seafood, and stay for dinner. You will always find a good buzz, great music, and strong drinks at this place – no matter what time of day!
