We recommend going to Coquina Beach, one of the most picturesque spots in the entire state. Not only do you have endless miles of the ocean right in front of you, but the backdrop of the pine trees and lush greenery really make it feel like you are in the midst of nature. Make sure you head here early to get a prime camping spot for the day.
Since the beach is long and slim, you are always just a few meters away from the water — perfect for building sandcastles, keeping an eye on your kids in the water, and heading back to your towel after a long day of surfing. Plus, if you come here Wednesday to Sunday night through the winter, you can enjoy walking around and shopping at the nearby farmer’s market!
Another fan favorite for locals and tourists alike is Cortez Beach, a beach connected by multiple fishing piers. We love coming here to watch the elite anglers cast their rods into the water, read a book in the relaxing atmosphere, and walk along the piers to get a cool breeze on our faces. This is one of the top spots to escape the crowds and really relax for the afternoon.
Lastly, Manatee Public Beach should not be overlooked! This white sand beach is ideal for families and groups who want to come to the beach to head into the water, play ball games on the beach, and rent some beach toys during their full-day or half-day trip to the beach. Head to the volleyball court to challenge your neighbors to a friendly game, walk to Bean Point to get in a few-thousand steps, or go for a swim in the shallow water.

Plus, if you order any of their specialty drinks, you can keep the cool take-home mug to reuse during your vacation! It is absolutely perfect for a picnic on the beach or in the nearby state park. Grab an Electric Lemonade, Frozen Daiquiri, Lava Flow with rum and pina colada, or Fuzzy Mango — a cocktail with vodka, schnapps, and mango. But not for breakfast, of course!
You can also check out Ginny and Jane E’s Cafe and Coffee Shop to grab something to-go or have a nice meal by the water. This down-home and cool coffee shop specializes in cold drinks, like smoothies and frappuccinos, featuring healthy creations with kale, spinach, strawberries, banana, and B-12 vitamin shots! You can also try one of their ice-cold frappes, like a mocha or vanilla option, to curb your sweet tooth craving.
